The mobile network operators (MNO) in the US have established a new program called 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) to classify A2P (Application-to-Person) text messaging and create a formal and regulated process.

The goal of the 10DLC program is to reduce text spam and phishing messages originating from 10DLC senders. In other words, there is now a central registration system used to evaluate and legitimize bulk text messaging.

What is A2P text messaging?

MNOs classify A2P text messaging as any SMS/MMS from a business to a consumer that is routed to or from software, regardless of the use case. This means that any SMS/MMS sent or received through your Apizeal account is classified as A2P.

What is 10DLC?

10DLC is short for 10-Digit Long Code. It is the new product name used by MNOs for their A2P messaging service when Toll-Free US phone numbers are used, for example, 000-000-00-00.

Using a 10DLC for SMS/MMS was very easy to set up. Why change that?

That's why MNOs are applying stricter controls to 10DLC. Unlike short codes, there is no formal process to enable a phone number for texting, and with the good comes the bad.

Mobile operators have seen a significant increase in text spam and phishing messages originating from 10DLC senders. The new product offering establishes controls to reduce the amount of unsolicited text messages to recipients.

What do you need to do to verify your Toll-Free phone number?

Apizeal will collect the registration information and perform verification on your behalf. Please complete the following form to provide the information we need from you: https://apizeal.com/toll-free-numbers-verification/

How long does the verification process take?

Once we receive your verification form with all the required information, the numbers associated with that request will be sent to our mobile network operator, whose processing time can take 2 to 4 weeks (estimated).

Omission of information or incorrect data will result in delays in processing your verification.

We are diligently working to minimize the number of delayed requests. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work.

👀 Important: when your request enters processing with the mobile network operator, you will have the possibility of sending with less filtering applied to your traffic while the verification process is completed.

What happens if you do not complete the verification?

Unregistered Toll-Free phone numbers may be subject to blocking and performance limitations. To ensure that messages sent by you are received, you should register your Toll-Free phone numbers as soon as possible.

If you no longer wish to use the bulk text messaging service due to this change, you can cancel it from your Apizeal account, "SMS Marketing" option, and you will not incur further charges.
